Finally the Braces come off and now—RETAINERS!
It has been months or years, and now your teeth look beautiful
and are free! Or are they?
The "R" Word: Retainer!
You have just spent several months or years, and a great deal
of money and inconvenience, to have your bite corrected and your
teeth straightened. Now the braces are gone! But you're not really
done. You must wear a retainer to help keep your teeth in their
new positions.
We can help you decide which type of retainer is right for you.
Some people wear a plastic retainer only at night. Some opt for
a "semi-permanent" metal retainer that fits behind the
teeth. This type of retainer stays in your mouth until your orthodontist
removes it.
Whatever type you choose, it's important to wear it regularly
for as long as recommended (or as long as you can stand it).
Remember… the forces that created the bad bite may still
be present, and they are just waiting to mess things again.
Why go to all this trouble and expense, only to screw up your
teeth again? There is no good excuse not to wear your retainer,
unless you have lost it. Then get a new one!!! Wear your retainer!
